Since its origins in 1957, GURUTZPE has designed, built and serviced more than 6,000 custom horizontal lathes for the most diverse and demanding industrial applications.

1955
Jacinto Zulaica founds the Construcciones GURUTZPE company
In the spa town of Zestoa, Jacinto Zulaica founds the CONSTRUCCIONES GURUTZPE company for the purpose of building turning machines.
1956
GURUTZPE manufactures its first lathe
GURUTZPE manufactures its first lathe, model M, which sees great commercial success.
1957
Expansion of the company
Seven new partners are incorporated into the company and the growth of Gurutzpe begins.
1968
Manufacture of large lathes
Throughout these years the range of machines is extended and a qualitative advance in capacity takes place, manufacturing the first large-size lathes, model Super B (≥Ø800 mm).
1969
New industrial plant in Iraeta
Given the success of sales and the need to expand the facilities to meet market demand, Gurutzpe moves to a new and larger industrial plant in Iraeta integrating foundry, heat treatment and machining
1974
GURUTZPE presents the first CNC lathe manufactured in Spain
At the Machine Tool Manufacturers Exhibition in Bilbao, GURUTZPE presents the first CNC lathe manufactured in Spain.
Special lathes are also developed with an electronic copier.
1975
API automatic threading lathe for oil pipes
The first API automatic threading lathes for oil pipes are developed. In this period of maximum growth of the company, they are building 30 machines a month
1980
Production of the first Heavy Duty lathes
Production of the first Heavy Duty lathes by Gurutzpe, models B1800, with tipping of Ø1800 mm
1985
Tilted-bed lathes
Development and manufacture of inclined bed lathes -model A-800- with huge market success
1986
New facilities in Itziar
Once again, and given the success of sales, there is evidence of the need to expand production capacity to meet growing demand, which leads to the transfer of the assembly facilities to the Itziar industrial estate
1990
Four-guide lathes
The first lathes with four carriageway guides are built
2004
New large capacity lathes
The market requires Gurutzpe to build lathes with greater capacity and they therefore begin to manufacture the first models with tipping ≥Ø 2500 mm and ≥ 30 t of capacity
2010
Development of the multi-tasking lathe (Turn Mill)
Gurutzpe develops the Turn Mill multi-tasking or multi-function lathe, incorporating in the same machine the functions of turning and milling with automatic tool loaders
2013
Incorporation into Etxe-tar Group
Incorporation into Etxe-tar Group The process of international commercial expansion of Gurutzpe is intensified by the opening of its own commercial branches with Gurutzpe personnel in the USA, China and Russia.

Hydrostatic guiding
Implementation of hydrostatic guiding technology in Gurutzpe large capacity and peripheral (steady rests) models
2015
New branches
Own Commercial Branches with Gurutzpe personnel in Germany, Italy and France are opened
2016
GHD double-bed hydrostatic lathe
Manufacture of the largest parallel lathe manufactured in Spain: model GHD40, for tipping parts Ø4000mm and 130 t in weight, with double-bed architecture.
